It’s not too big and it’s very light as well. I expected weight so when I lifted it up, I almost flung it. XD don’t get me wrong, it’s still a well weighted product so it isn’t cheaply made. It charges fast “1hour and change” with the included charge cable. 330 watt input is what it’s reading from the app. My one gripe is that I was hoping for a 3.6 hour battery life as stated for projector use. Of course I was stupid and didn’t do the wattage math and I’m guessing they picked an average and less power dense projector for their 3.6 hour life span, but I have a wall projector that sits flush and beams straight up and not from the back. Plugging it in does work, but I get a little less than an hour which is not good enough for most movie nights which I was hoping to use for the original intending purchase reason.

I’ve got a larger portable power station that I bring when “car camping” to keep the cooler running but it’s really too heavy to bring any distance from the car. Recently, I was kayaking into a backcountry campsite and ended up bringing several smaller power banks along to keep our cell phones charged. This Anker SOLIX Portable Power Station would be ideal for that use case and would relieve any anxiety about not having enough power for the trip. It weighs around 4 kg, so not super light but would be no issue to bring in a kayak. The other major use case I see is during power outages. I intend on using this unit to keep the Wi-Fi router and modem up as long as possible during outages.

The power station comes with the station itself, a power cord and the warranty card. The manual is entirely online but is easily accessible from the Anker app which I highly recommend installing.

The design of the unit is clean with 12V car port, 3 USB-C ports, 1 USB-A port, a solar charging input port and 3 AC ports. The display is well laid out and shows you the current state of the battery (in percent charged) and indicates the current rate of input and/or output. For example, you could be charging the unit from an AC wall plug and at the same time charging a phone from a USB-C port. The display will show you the wattage both coming in and out. As well it shows the time left to fully charge the unit at the current charge rate.

I tried a few different charge scenarios:

1. Charging the unit from an AC outlet. This charges the unit very rapidly and the display indicates an input rate of around 325 Watts (W). My unit came 90% charged and I had it to 100% in less than 10 minutes.
2. I tried a multispeed hand mixer to test the AC output. At the maximum speed I was using a bit less than 200 W and the unit indicated I had 1.3 hours of charge remaining. At the lowest speed I was using just 7 W and that gave me 18.5 hours of use.
3. The built-in light has three different light levels and uses either 1 W, 2 W or 3 W of power. It also has a “SOS” emergency mode.
4. Charging my phone through one of the high output USB-C ports used 17 W.
5. Charging the unit itself through the USB-C port drew 16 W and indicated a remaining charge time of 0.9 hours at 96% charged. Obviously, this is a much slower way to charge the power station. Note that using the USB-C input with less than about 15 W would not charge the power station.

As I mentioned above, the power station has a solar input port. I have a 100 W solar panel that I used with my other power station, so I decided to give it a try. My other panel has an Anderson connector, and this unit uses the XT60 cable so the first thing I had to do was get an adapter cable. This was very reasonably ($14) priced. One thing to note that I just discovered is that the Anderson specification has no male/female – the cables have identical ends and plug into each other. The day I ran the tests it was partially cloudy so the best I could get out of my solar panel was 35 W. At that level of input the power station said it would take 24 minutes to charge the remaining 5%. Of course, on a sunny day this would be much quicker.

As I indicated the app is quite useful. The first thing that happened during installation is that the firmware on the unit was updated. The app itself mirrors the front panel of the power station so it’s easy to see the power inputs and outputs on the app. It shows your roughly the same information as the front panel and as well indicates a temperature which I’m assuming is the internal battery temperature. The setup allows you to modify such things as the screen brightness, screen timeout, unit timeout, etc.

The only improvements I would suggest the unit needs is a cap over the DC car port and including a strap. You can get a strap from Anker, but it is not included when you buy the power station.
